Anyone who finds 15 km a bit too much – or those who want to warm up for Saturday. A straightforward run with a few short technical sections (headlamp required!)
Summary
Whether it’s your final shake-out run before the main event on Saturday or your very first trail run (with a headlamp!), the K7 is a fun and exciting challenge that once again kicks off the IATF 2025 in style.
Tip: You can easily add the K7 Nighttrail during registration – just check the box right below where you select your main distance 😉
Since 2018, the K7 has been our classic opener for the IATF weekend and is a popular prologue to the event. The route starts and finishes in front of the Landestheater. It begins along Europaratsallee before quickly turning onto trails heading toward the Alpenzoo.
Be mindful of your pace early on – going out too fast might come back to bite you on the challenging climb up the Wilhelm-Greil-Weg just below the Hungerburg.
Once you reach the highest point of the course, you can loosen up your legs and take in the city lights, before tackling the Knappensteig – a fun, flowy, and technical downhill section that’s an absolute blast. But caution is key: it’s not without its challenges, especially during the Nighttrail in the dark. Make sure your headlamp is on and stay alert for a safe descent.
