Short Summary
A loop around Innsbruck, always with the Nordkette in sight as a constant landmark. Challenging trails put participants to the test, demanding careful energy management – don’t burn out early! To succeed here, you’ll need to pace yourself well.
The K85 traditionally kicks off with a spectacular midnight start, together with the K110 participants. The first few kilometers are shared by both distances: the course leads along Europaratsallee, past the Alpenzoo, and up the steep Bärfallsteig to the first aid station in Kranebitten after about 13 km.
From there, the route continues through Völs, where a steady climb begins toward Birgitz. But things really start to get challenging here: the Götznergraben climb to the Mutterer Alm demands everything from you – 800 meters of elevation gain over 9 kilometers. The effort is rewarded with a breathtaking sunrise at the top. The panorama of the majestic Kalkkögel mountains and the awakening city of Innsbruck is truly unforgettable.
After soaking in the view, you’ll descend quickly into the Stubai Valley, where varied trails lead you to the next highlight: the Sillschlucht gorge. This section features technical terrain, rushing water, and dramatic rock faces guiding you back toward Innsbruck.
At this point, the K85 and K110 routes split. K85 runners continue along a mix of ascents and descents on scenic trails, with the impressive Nordkette mountain range always in view. The course passes through Aldrans and the picturesque Herzsee, before reaching the historic town center of Hall in Tirol – over 700 years old and adding a special charm to your journey.
But the finish line isn’t yours just yet – one final challenge awaits: the steep climb to the Enzianhütte. After conquering it, it’s all downhill to the grand finale. In Innsbruck, a unique finish line atmosphere and the cheers of the crowd await you – a moment you’ll never forget.
