Description

K110

Masters of Innsbruck

Distance: 108.3 kilometers
Ascend: 5,600 meters
Descend: 5,600 meters

Difficulty:

👟👟👟👟👟👟

Start/Finish: Innsbruck – Landestheater
Start: Saturday, May 04, 0:00 am

Recommended for

Experienced 80–170 km ultra runners who already know what to expect from flowing and technically demanding high alpine trails and what an ultra marathon demands of your body and mind.

Short summary

A wonderful loop around Innsbruck, past the Kalkkögeln and over the Patscherkofel. The permanently challenging trails should not be underestimated and must be factored into the distance. If you want to run here, you definitely need to know what you are doing. Following the route of last year’s World Championships, it is now your turn to prove your stamina.

In 2024 we are turning the tables, or in our case the route. We start at the forecourt of the Tiroler Landestheater again. We run underneath the Golden Roof, past the Alpen Zoo, over the Durrachsteig towards the Kranebitten supply station (approx. 13 km). From there, the route continues via Völs and then takes a flowing ascent to Birgitz. Now it gets tough, as the route climbs steeply uphill via the Götznergraben to the Mutterer Alm (approx. 9 km and 800 m ascent). As a reward, however, the Mutterer Alm is reached for an exclusive sunrise, which is emphasized by a magnificent panorama with a view of the unique Kalkkögel mountains and the whole of Innsbruck. Then it’s back down into the Stubai Valley, with easy trails and the next highlight, the Sillschlucht. Here you can expect technical trails paired with rushing water and steep rocky slopes, which will show you the way back to Innsbruck.

Then it’s time to collect altitude meters up the Patscherkofel. First, the route climbs steeply past the Lanser Alm (1780m) to the highest point of the route, at 2048m, on the Zirbenweg. There may well be a snowfield or two to pass. From there, the finest single trails lead along the famous Almenweg 1600, past the most beautiful alpine pastures in Innsbruck, to the Rinner Steig, which leads back down into the valley. Via the Speckbach trails, the route then leads directly to the Herzsee aid station. Then the route leads through the over 700-year-old, historic town center of Hall in Tirol and over the last steep climb to the Enzianhütte. Afterwards, our unique finish line awaits you in the heart of Innsbruck.

Recommended for

Short summary

A loop around Innsbruck, with the Nordkette as a fixed point always in view. Demanding trails challenge the participants, so it’s important to pace yourself and not waste all your energy at the start. If you want to survive here, you have to be able to manage your capacities well. On trails where some of the world championships were held last year, you can let yourself be carried away by the flow.

Traditionally, the K85 starts together with the K110 during the popular night start at midnight. The route is also similar on the first section. The route runs underneath the Golden Roof, past the Alpine Zoo, over the Bärfallsteig towards the Kranebitten supply station (approx. 13 km). From there, the route continues via Völs up to Birgitz. Now it gets tough, the route climbs steeply over the Götznergraben to the Mutterer Alm (approx. 9 km and 800 m ascent). Then it’s back down into the Stubai Valley, with easy trails and the next highlight, the Sillschlucht gorge. Here, technical trails are paired with rushing water and steep rocky slopes, showing you the way back to Innsbruck.

This is where the K85 separates from the K110 distance. The route now takes you up and down varied trails through Aldrans and past the Herzsee lake – with the Nordkette mountain range always in view- until the route leads through the over 700-year-old, historic town center of Hall in Tirol. Afterwards, the last steep climb leads up to the Enzianhütte and then towards Innsbruck, where the unique finish line awaits with a cheering crowd.

Descend: 2,800 meters

Difficulty:

👟👟👟

Start/Finish: Innsbruck – Landestheater
Start: Saturday, May 04, 7:30 am

Recommended for

Experienced and trained trail marathoners who want to run a selective and challenging trail marathon. Technically demanding & challenging, especially on the up- and downhills.

Short summary

A trail marathon that packs a punch. With an ascent of over 2200m, this trail is looking for courageous runners who want to take on a challenge. In addition to flowing sections that offer short breather breaks, there are also steep climbs over the Mutter Alm, into Axamer Lizum and up to the Nordkette. Innsbruck’s mountain classics invite you to puff and enjoy. One thing is certain: if you want to take on this challenge, you should be well prepared.

Fancy something new? This year, the trail marathon competition starts at the valley station of the Mutterer Alm. From the start, the route climbs steeply uphill towards the Raitiseralm. The route continues along the ridge to the Mutterer Alm (1620m). The first section already leaves nothing to be desired, as there are rewarding panoramic views of the famous Nordkette. After the first refreshment stop, the route continues past the picturesque reservoir up to the Birgitzer Alm (1809m). From the highest point, there is a fast downhill to the valley station of the Axamer Lizum cable cars. With views of the Kalkkögel to the south and the Nordkette mountain range to the north, the route struggles along the Schartensteig until it becomes more leisurely again over the Panoramaweg.

From Birgitz, the route continues through the Nasse Tal, via Völs and Kranebitten. Then it’s time to give it your all again, up to the Bärfallsteig and via Hungerburg back downhill to the well-deserved finish at the Landestheater Vorplatz. The distance and the elevation profile promise a challenging trail that is looking for its final opponents.

Ascend: 2,061 meters
Descend: 2,061 meters

Difficulty:

👟👟👟👟

Start/Finish: Innsbruck – Landestheater
Start: Saturday, May 04, 7:30 am

Recommended for

All those who like it short and really crisp as well as really steep and technical, and maybe somehow like to suffer a bit 😉

Short summary

Is the trail marathon a little too long for you and the half marathon not challenging enough? Then the K35 is just right for you. Because what we save in kilometers, we add in technical level and altitude. More than 1800m of ascent should not be taken lightly. Climbs to the Mutter Alm and up the Nordkette are challenging. The reward awaits at the finish line at the Tiroler Landestheater Vorplatz in Innsbruck.

Do you want a surprise? This year, the K35 distance starts from a new location for the first time, namely at the valley station of the Mutterer Alm. From here, the route climbs steeply up towards the Raitiseralm and along flowing trails to the highest point of the route, the Mutterer Alm (1620 m). Worthwhile trails make the runner’s heart beat faster and the view from the Mutterer Alm down into the Inn Valley is an additional reward.

Then it runs over the Götznergraben down to Birgitz, further into the Nasse Tal. Continuing through woods and meadows to Völs and on to Kranebitten. Here you can recharge your batteries at a refreshment stop, as you will need strength for the last ascent of the Bärfallsteig trail until you head back downhill to the Hungerburg and towards the well-earned finish, which awaits you at the Landestheater Vorplatz.

New start location, new opportunities! This year, the K25 – Trail Half Marathon starts at the valley station of the Mutterer Alm. The first ranking battles will be held along the panoramic trail from Mutters to Birgitz and the field of runners will already be spliting up. Looking at the Nordkette mountain range opposite, you could almost fall for the view if it weren’t for the fact that this is a trail running event, which also demands a lot from this distance.

From Birgitz, continuing into the Nasse Tal, through the forest and across meadows to Völs and on to Kranebitten. At this aid station, it’s time to recharge your batteries for the final race up the Stangensteig, because only after this last major hurdle you head back down towards the Landestheater, where a cheering crowd awaits you at the finish line.

Descend: 250meters

Difficulty:

👟

Start/Finish: Innsbruck – Landestheater
Start: Saturday, May 02, 08:00 pm

Recommended for

Anyone for whom 15km is still too much or those who want to warm up for Saturday. Easy with short technical passages (with headlamp!)

Short summary

Whether it’s the last shake-out run before the main competition on Saturday or the first trail run (with a headlamp), the K7 is definitely a cool challenge and is the perfect way to kick off IATF 2024 again this year.

Tip: You can simply book the K7 Nighttrail when you register, you will find the box directly under the entry of the main distance 😉

Our “classic” start to the IATF weekend since 2018 and our extremely popular prologue since the beginning of the event series. Returning to last year, the route starts and finishes again at the Landestheater Vorplatz and takes the fastest route along the Europaratsallee to the trails towards the Alpenzoo. Pay attention to your pace at the beginning, as starting too quickly will take its revenge on the steep ascent via the Wilhelm-Greil-Weg just below the Hungerburg. Once you pass the highest point of the route, you can shake out your legs and catch a glimpse of the lights of Innsbruck before a really cool, flowing and technical downhill awaits you on the Knappensteig. It’s fun, but not without its challenges. Watch out because the K7 is a night trail (headlamp!)
