Short Summary

A trail marathon that packs a punch! With approximately 2,500 meters of elevation gain, this trail challenges brave runners ready to push their limits. While flowy sections provide brief moments to catch your breath, the course takes you steeply uphill over the Mutterer Alm, through the Axamer Lizum, and all the way to the Nordkette. Innsbruck’s iconic mountain classics promise both hard work and breathtaking views. One thing’s for sure: anyone taking on this challenge needs to come well-prepared.

Detailed Course Description

Looking for something new? This year’s trail marathon kicks off at the Mutterer Alm valley station. Right from the start, it’s a steep climb up toward the Raitiser Alm. Following the ridge, the route continues to the Mutterer Alm (1,620m). The first section already delivers, offering rewarding views of the famous Nordkette. After the first refreshment stop, the trail winds past the picturesque reservoir and climbs to the Birgitzer Alm (1,809m). From the highest point, a thrilling downhill leads to the valley station of the Axamer Lizum cable cars.

With the Kalkkögel to the south and the Nordkette to the north, runners tackle the Schartensteig before easing into the Panoramaweg. From Birgitz, the route continues through the Nasse Tal, passing through Völs and Kranebitten. But the challenge isn’t over yet — the final stretch demands everything as you ascend the Bärfallsteig and then descend via the Hungerburg into the well-deserved finish at the Landestheater square. The distance and elevation profile promise a demanding trail looking for its next conquerors!
