Short Summary
A loop around Innsbruck, always with the Nordkette in sight as a constant landmark. Challenging trails put participants to the test, demanding careful energy management—don’t burn out early! To succeed here, you’ll need to pace yourself well. In 2024, you can let yourself be carried away by flowing trails, including those used during last year’s World Championships.
Detailed track description
The K85 traditionally begins with the exciting midnight start, shared with the K110. The first section follows the same route as the K110, passing under the Golden Roof, along the Alpenzoo, and up the Bärfallsteig to the Kranebitten aid station (approx. 13 km). From there, the route continues through Völs and flows upward to Birgitz.
The challenge intensifies here, with a steep climb through the Götznergraben to the Mutterer Alm (a 9 km section with 800 meters of ascent). The reward? Reaching the Mutterer Alm at sunrise, offering a spectacular panoramic view of the Kalkkögel and Innsbruck.
Next comes a descent into the Stubaital, with fun trails leading to the Sillschlucht, a highlight featuring technical paths, rushing water, and steep rock faces that guide you back toward Innsbruck.
At this point, the K85 diverges from the K110. The route weaves through varied trails, always keeping the Nordkette in view, passing Aldrans and the Herzsee, before reaching the historic 700-year-old town center of Hall in Tirol.
The final challenge is a steep ascent to the Enzianhütte, followed by a downhill stretch leading back to Innsbruck. Here, you’ll enjoy an unforgettable finish, cheered on by an enthusiastic crowd.
